The federation is officially recognized by the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Medical Association. The de facto patrons are the Honourable Minister of Health, the Deans of all the medical schools and the President of the Ghana Medical Association.

Globally, we are a member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, which is in turn, recognized by the WHO.
