National Officer for Professional Exchange
Medicine is fast changing with introduction of new techniques. There’s a saying that “It is better to experience something once than to hear of it a thousand times”. FGMSA SCOPE through its exchanges provide the opportunity to experience healthcare in different countries thereby learning modes and methods to provide quality healthcare.
OUR MISSION
‘The aim of SCOPE is to promote cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals, through the facilitation of international student exchanges. SCOPE aims to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world’.
OUR ACTIVITIES
Every year we provide over a hundred students the opportunity to experience professional clinical clerkships somewhere in the world.
We also host over a hundred foreign students in our hospitals every year as part of the means to achieving the above-mentioned goal.
We organize trips and tours across the country every month to different sceneries firstly as fan packages and also to serve our greater goal project; Healthcare to Rural places.
We provide other services such as passport acquisitions and travel tours.
OUR PROJECT
We in SCOPE, FGMSA believe in Healthcare for everyone and it is clearly enshrined in our mission; ‘The aim of SCOPE is to promote cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals, through the facilitation of international student exchanges. SCOPE aims to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world’ and with this knowledge we seek to reach out to all corners where our services are needed.
The activities of FGMSA SCOPE spreads across providing the possibility to experience healthcare in another culture with different health and education systems to trainings about community healthcare.
We are involved with the advocacy and plan to ensure disseminated healthcare through certain activities of ours. SCOPE GHANA partners with other Standing committees during health outreaches to places in the country and through this we contribute our quota to providing healthcare to people leaving in such places.
Most of our activities have this theme in focus. Firstly, our Upon Arrival Training session introduces our incomings to the healthcare system in Ghana, the role of the student in healthcare delivery.
Mostly through our Weekend trips which are mostly to rural Ghana, we are primed to the health necessities of people leaving in such area. Discussions on the theme happens most evenings with the aim of gaining much information on healthcare delivery in the rural areas and how our efforts can go long ways to improving it.
Currently a plan is being drawn to use our weekend trips as an avenue to reach out and provide certain health services such as screenings and health education to people leaving in rural Ghana.
With lots of Blue Hugs, you’re welcome to join the Great SCOPE-FGMSA family!!!!!!
