Structure

The Federation is structured around congress, national executive council and a Judicial Committee as the main organs. Then there is the executive board which is the administrative body and the standing committees.

The Congress of the Federation: This is the highest decision making body comprising delegates, observers and some invited dignitaries- all members of the Federation. Congress is where matters affecting the Federation are discussed and elections are conducted, so each year, Congress is convened bi-annually.

Executive Board (EB): The EB is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Federation. It is made up of the President, Vice President, Financial Secretary, National Health Officer, National Projects Officer and the National Exchange Officer.

National Executive Council (NEC): The NEC consists of the Executive Board, the Presidential Liason Officer, the deputy national exchange officers, deputy national health officers. Between congresses, the NEC runs the federation. They meet at least 3 times in an administrative year.

The Standing Committees are the functional arms of the Federation, headed by a national officer. There are 6 of them:

  • Standing Committee On Research Exchange
  • Standing Committee On Public Health
  • Standing Committee On Reproductive health and AIDS
  • Standing Committee On Human Rights and Peace
  • Standing Committee On Medical Education
  • Standing Committee On Professional Exchange
