
UDS HOLDS WHITE COAT CEREMONY FOR MEDICINE CLASS OF 2025
Coats on, stethoscopes hanged, smiles worn; this was how a total of 157 medical students from the class of 2025 were transitioned from their preclinical year to clinical year. The Medical Students’ Association of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, on Monday, the 27th of January held its annual White Coat Ceremony for her Medicine Class of 2025. The ceremony which took place at the UDS Multipurpose Auditorium was to officially usher them into the Clinical school at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The ceremony was also one of the many activities to commemorate the 25thanniversary of the School of Medicine.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of the University’s heads and Doctors from various specialities. Present was the Vice Chancellor for the University, Prof. Seidu Alhassan who congratulated them for working hard to come this far. In his speech, he also reiterated the university’s commitment to supporting medical education in the university. He furtherchallenged the inducting class not to relent but to keep pushing to become the best in their line of duties.
Also in attendance were the Dean and Vice Dean for the School of Medicine, Prof. Stephen Tabiri and Prof. Gideon Helegberespectively, Head of the Anatomy Department – Mr. Eric Faaku, Dr. Raul Gonzalez and the Registrar for the School of Medicine.
Students were also cautioned not to see this transition as a license to engage in any form of consultations as that goes against the ethics of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC). Students were so excited about this next stage of their academic journey and are sure set for this all-new experience. FGMSA, by this, congratulates the UDS Medicine Class of 2025 and wishes them the best in this next phase.
